Physical Literacy

Physical activity can improve mental health by decreasing and preventing conditions such as anxiety and depression, as well as improving mood and other aspects of well-being.

Research has also shown that without physical literacy, children can withdraw from physical activity and sport. People need to feel confident in activity settings to enable them to be physically active in later life. This mainly comes from learning fundamental movement and sport skills as a child.

During the 2021-22 school year Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) will be providing physical literacy opportunities for a few of  SD 61elementary schools and all of  the middle schools.
